Getting around Ptally: projects, versions and quotes

A tour of the Ptally platform: the projects list, a project's page, a version's model, steps and tests, and where to find quotes, the API and MCP.

Ptally organises pricing into three things:

  • Projects. One project per product, for example Pet Insurance or Commercial Fleet.
  • Versions. Each project has numbered versions of its pricing model. A version is a draft, approved or published.
  • Quotes. Every price the engine calculates, with its inputs, output and timing.

The bar at the bottom of every page takes you to Projects, Quotes, the API and MCP reference pages, and settings (the cog icon).

The projects list

Projects lists every project in your organisation. Each project shows its versions underneath, with each version's status and date. Use the search box to find a project or version, Archive to see archived projects, and New project to start a new one.

A project's page

Open a project to see:

  • its description, creation date, number of versions and the date it was last published;
  • Quotes, last 30 days, with a chart and the most recent quotes;
  • API connection: quoting, a panel for pricing a quote straight from the page (see Price a quote);
  • Versions, every version with its status and summary;
  • View history, View quotes and Edit project at the top, and Archive project at the bottom.

A version's page

Click a version to open it. A version's page shows:

  • What changed, with who created, approved and published the version and when, plus a summary of the change;
  • Model: JSON and steps, the full model as JSON on the left and its steps on the right;
  • Tests, the version's test cases and their results;
  • quotes for this version and the API connection panel.

Published and approved versions are read-only. You make changes in a draft version (see Edit a model).

Inspecting a step

Click any step to inspect it. A collection step shows its rate table, which you can search, along with the fields it outputs and the expressions it uses. Switch between Design and Config to see the step as a form or as JSON.
